To get set up for your SEG account with Octopus Energy you must have a copy of your MCS certificate and DNO letter. Urbn Solar has no control over the length of time it takes to open your export account and all enquiries should be made to Octopus Energy.
Step One -
Visit https://octopus.energy/smart/outgoing
Read through the information on this page and decide which tariff you wish to go onto. If you want the advantages of the Octopus Flux tariff then apply for Agile. If you want to be paid £0.15p per kWh no matter what time you export then apply for outgoing.
Click on apply to Octopus Outgoing now.
Step Two –
Read through the information and tick “I’m ok with this”. If you are already an Octopus customer then sign in with your username and password. If not, create and account and come back to this stage.
Step Three –
You will now be asked to input some information as follows,
- Select “Solar Panels” or “Solar and Storage” if you have a battery.
- Select “No” for dose your property have a Feed-in-Tariff.
- Leave export MPAN blank.
- Type in your MCS certificate number here. This can be found on the front page of your MCS certificate.
- Select “Notified” and upload a copy of your DNO acceptance letter here.
- Select the tariff you wish to apply for, agree to the terms and conditions and hit “Apply for Outgoing Octopus”.
Step Four –
You should receive this message. Octopus will then apply for an export MPAN from the DNO and open your export account. They will notify you when this has been done via email and you will start getting paid for the energy you are putting back into the grid.
